You may be setting up your CRM so that team members with the “Contact Manager” role have access to manage their leads while converting them to contacts. When you have multiple Contact Managers, you may only want each Contact Manager to have access to their specific leads.
How do I restrict contacts/customers to only certain team members?
First, you’ll want to enable this in the CRM settings. Go to Jetpack CRM > CRM Settings > General.
In the “General Settings” section, enable (check the box) the “Contact Assignment” option, but not the “Assign Ownership” option. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Save Settings” button.
After those settings have been enabled, you can assign a contact to a team member by going to Jetpack CRM > Contacts (or Contacts > View All from the top menu on any Jetpack CRM admin page). Click on a contact to view it, and then click the “Edit Contact” button.
Locate the “Assigned to” box in the sidebar (location may vary depending on your device). Select the team member from the dropdown list, then scroll up and click the “Update Contact” button to save the change.
The contact can then only be edited by that team member or the site admin. All team members will be able to see all contacts, but only the assigned team member (or site admin) will be able to edit the contact.
If you enable the “Assign Ownership” option as well, then any Contact Manager can also change who is assigned to a contact.
Strict Ownership of Contacts to Restrict Visibility
To restrict the contact list to only a single team member, you would need to set up separate CRM installations for each team member.
It is not currently possible to have strict ownership and restrict visibility within the same Jetpack CRM installation. If that interests you, please send us a message using our Feature Requests page.
