Depending on your menu layout settings, you can search for contacts by accessing the list from Dashboard → Jetpack CRM → Contacts or simply from Dashboard → Contacts.
The contacts list’s View All page includes a search bar on the left side: you can type in there to search for contacts.
Please note that the search matches any instances of the string you enter.
For example, if you type “mai,” the search result will display anything that contains the “mai” bit, such as Maia or Sharmaine.
Which fields the search matches
The contact search matches against these fields:
- Name (prefix, first name, and last name).
- Email address, including any email aliases set up through AKA Mode.
- Both the main and secondary address: address lines, city, county, country, and postcode.
- Phone numbers (home, work, and mobile) – spaces, dots, hyphens, and parentheses are ignored, so 555-1234 and 5551234 return the same results.
- Social profiles: Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
- Company name, if B2B Mode is enabled.
The search does not match against custom fields unless you turn on the Include Custom Fields in Search setting.
Narrow your search results
If your searches return contacts that do not appear to match what you typed, custom field data is the most likely cause. Custom fields are excluded from search by default, but if Include Custom Fields in Search has been turned on, a search will also match text stored in any custom field.
To exclude custom fields and match only the core contact fields listed above:
- Go to Jetpack CRM → CRM Settings → Field Options.
- In the General Field Options section, clear the Include Custom Fields in Search checkbox.
- Click Save Field Options.
This setting applies across the whole CRM. Turning it off also excludes custom fields from searches for
exact word or phrase without partial matches from custom field data.
