How to Automatically Tag Contacts

Version 1.3.5+ of our Automations extension lets you Automatically tag contacts based on your triggers and conditions. You can add tags to contacts based on the following triggers:

  • New Contact
  • New Quote
  • New Invoice
  • New Transaction

After selecting a trigger, you can select conditions to further narrow down who you want to tag, and with what:

  • Has Status: The automation will be triggered when a new contact is added, if the contact has the specified status.
  • Has Tag: The automation will be triggered when a new contact is added, if the contact has the specified tag(s).
  • Field Contains: The automation will be triggered when a new contact is added, if the contact has the specified data in the selected field.

Finally, in the “Choose Action” dropdown list, select the “Tag Contact” option, and type your desired tag into the provided field. Be sure to save the automation when you’re done.

The combination of those options allows you to do things like tag a new contact who:

  • is in a specific country
  • has a specific status
  • has a new transaction that contains a certain word or phrase
  • and many other options!

Those tags can then be used to drive your Contact Segments, and be used to control which Mail Campaign email sequence(s) your contacts are a part of.
